We had a great mothers day and worked on the backyard so the pool looks really great and is ready for summer. Mom and dad and Kal's mom came over for a wonderful dinner cooked by my awesome chef husband. Honore(Kal's mom) brought a few dishes too including a wonderful cheesecake that topped off the day!! We played outside and just all in all had a great day!! The next day was Papa's birthday and because he is always so concerned about everyone else he didn't want us rushing around on a work day to take him out to dinner so we just suprised him and brought dinner to him!! After the few months we went through this year with him in the hospital he wasn't getting away without a celebration!!!
The next week our game was rained out :( - the boys took the opportunity of no game and having to be inside to turn our living room into WWE!!! That's fun for them but I always have to do the cleanup as soon as someone is hurt and it's usually Kal!!! :) haha!!!
School is winding down and the weather is warming up so the boys and Kal are taking the opportunity in the early evenings to play outside by the pool and even in the pool. They convinced me to even get in but it was freezing - things you do for your kids! :)
Last Wednesday night while playing in the backyard Ashten tried to pick up a probably 40-50 lb walking stone and dropped it on his toe!!! His toe was crushed sort of like a grape - Kal couldn't get the bleeding to stop so he called 911 - luckily our neighbor and friend Margaret pulled up and took Canyen to her house while Ash and Kal took a ride in an ambulance to the ER in Frisco. I got the call and rushed to meet them from work. I got there just in time to see them numbing him up. It was pretty nasty!!! He needed lots of stitches and the bone in the tip of his toe was broken. :( He was so brave though - I don't know if it was nervous talking or what but he had the dr telling him every single thing he was doing!! Once he had the downlow on how the doc was going to stitch him up he gave us the downlow on the big crayon trade he made at school and explained how he ended up with 10 sparkle crayons - he was sure to point out though that he didn't have to give up his macaroni and cheese crayon!! :) When it was almost over - I was looking the other way as to try to keep myself from passing out when he asked me "mommy please let go of my hand - you are making it sort of sweaty!" :) I guess sometimes moms are more nervous than kids!!
We saw a podiatrist who said the fracture was no big deal and he was going to heal up just fine - in the meantime he has mastered crutches (crunches as he calls them) and is figuring out how to manuever around pretty well!! Today he was able to walk a little so hopefully that will continue - carrying around an almost 6 year old up and down stairs has been a little hard!!!
Luckily we have had this long weekend to recover!!! Not sure how long this puts him on the disabled list for baseball but I am hoping he can play in the games on 6/5 & 6/6 - Coach Kal disagrees and thinks he is out until All Stars 6/19 - but we'll see!! Who would have thought I would be the more aggressive parent about getting him back out on the field! :) Guess this Baseball Mom and Football Mom stuff is really taking me over! ha ha!!!
